Alumni Spotlight: Chelsea Mosher Class of 2014
Enjoying a class her freshman year in high school set the stage for what would become Altmar-Parish-Williamstown alumna Chelsea Mosher’s career.
“The class that had the most impact on me was Mrs. Hollier’s American Sign Language class,” said Mosher. “Mrs. Hollier always encouraged me to keep practicing my signing.”
Mosher is in pursuit of her master’s degree at Saint Joseph’s University, with one semester of classes and one semester of student teaching left before she becomes a certified teacher of the deaf.
For now, Mosher is working as an interpreter and teaching assistant at the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation.
Mosher said college courses were easier due to the preparations made by the faculty at APW.
“Thanks to Mr. Scahill for teaching us APA, MLA and Chicago writing styles; that was a big help in college and I’m extremely grateful for that knowledge,” said Mosher. “I think APW offered many opportunities to its students through not only the CiTi programs but distance learning classes as well.”
Mosher said she wants the current students of APW to follow their dreams and achieve their goals just as she did.
“Keep moving forward with your dreams and passions. Do something you love,” Mosher said. “Many students will laugh or roll their eyes at that, but really, life is too short to not do what you love and enjoy.”
