APW launches Unified Bowling Team in partnership with Mexico CSD

This year, APW JSHS proudly introduced a Unified Bowling Team in collaboration with Mexico Central School District, bringing students together in a spirit of inclusivity, competition and teamwork.

A total of seven students from grades 9-12 participated in the program, where they were able to bowl alongside of students from different schools in Oswego County. New friendships were created as they learned to support each other both on and off the lanes.

"It was truly inspiring to see our students embrace this inclusive experience," said Danielle Wheeler, Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Special Education at APW CSD. "Through unified sports, we are strengthening connections, promoting teamwork, and ensuring that all students—regardless of ability—have the chance to shine."

The success of this year’s Unified Bowling Team marks just the beginning. APW looks forward to expanding the program in the coming years, continuing to provide students with disabilities the opportunity to participate in competitive sports while forging lasting relationships with their teammates.
